Description
CorvoBody v2.0 - First Person Body for Dishonored (+ Body Swap add-on)
=======================================================================
See your own body in first person, like Dishonored 2. Look down and you see your legs, feet and holstered
arms, all animated. New in 2.0: the Body Swap add-on lets you play as Corvo, Daud, or Daud in his High
Overseer disguise - body, arms, blade, powers and crossbow - and switch at any time from the pause menu.
FEATURES
--------
Your body (CorvoBody):
- Walking and running blend smoothly with your stick speed, in every direction (no more moonwalking
backwards), and you step when you turn on the spot
- Crouching: the body lowers smoothly with the feet planted; crouching under tables folds the legs out of
the way and brings them back as you stand up
- Sliding, jumping and landing, chain and ladder climbing and swimming all have their own poses
- Floating legs while Daud's pause-time Blink holds you in mid-air
- The upper body leans as you look up and down and when you lean round corners
- A steady camera: it pivots in place instead of swinging in an arc when you look up and down
- The body hides in cutscenes and keeps itself out of the camera when it would clip - landings,
strafing, takedowns and getting hit
Body Swap add-on (needs Dishonored Mod Loader - see Requirements):
Pause > MODS > Body Swap > Character
Body Corvo / Daud / Overseer
Arms Corvo / Daud / Overseer
Blade Corvo / Daud / Overseer (Daud's and the Overseer's blades draw straight out, no flick)
Powers Corvo / Daud (Daud's Blink and Summon Assassin take the place of Blink and
Devouring Swarm - in the skill tree, upgradable with runes and on
the power wheel. Each set keeps its own upgrades.)
Crossbow Corvo / Daud (Corvo's crossbow or Daud's wristbow)
Mix them however you like and switch mid-mission. Your choices are remembered.
The Daud and Overseer pieces are loaded from the game's DLC files a few seconds after each level starts;
until then you see Corvo's.
There is nothing to configure and no keyboard keys are used, so CorvoBody never clashes with your bindings.
REQUIREMENTS
------------
- Dishonored for PC, Steam version (32-bit, the normal version), with both DLCs:
The Knife of Dunwall and The Brigmore Witches. The Definitive Edition / Game of the Year Edition
includes both.
* Your body needs The Brigmore Witches (the mod uses the models already installed with your game).
* Body Swap's Daud power icons come from The Knife of Dunwall.
- Built and tested against the current Steam Dishonored.exe
(SHA-256 66443F3D68A6C658B0ED943260C3EB2F4CC9E3400D5809A94D6EC41EB725E17E).
Other versions (GOG, Epic, Microsoft Store, older Steam builds) are not supported - the mod detects them
and switches itself off safely.
- For the Body Swap menu only: Dishonored Mod Loader by Crimsab (tested with v1.3.13)
https://www.nexusmods.com/dishonored/mods/383
Without it you still get your body, as Corvo.
INSTALLATION (new install)
--------------------------
Find your Dishonored folder: in Steam, right-click Dishonored > Manage > Browse local files.
(Usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dishonored)
Close the game before installing.
1. If you want Body Swap, install Dishonored Mod Loader FIRST, following its own instructions
(its files go into Binaries\Win32, next to Dishonored.exe).
2. In Binaries\Win32, RENAME the Mod Loader's dinput8.dll to: dinput8_modloader.dll
(Both mods use a file called dinput8.dll and only one can have that name. CorvoBody automatically loads
any file whose name starts with "dinput8_", so the Mod Loader keeps working.)
3. Extract this archive into your Dishonored folder (the folder that contains "Binaries" and
"DishonoredGame"), and allow it to merge folders. That places:
Binaries\Win32\dinput8.dll (CorvoBody)
Binaries\Win32\Mods\plugins\BodySwap.dll (the Body Swap add-on)
4. Start the game from Steam, load a save and look down. With the Mod Loader installed, open
Pause > MODS > Body Swap.
Do step 2 before step 3 - extracting CorvoBody first would overwrite the Mod Loader's dinput8.dll.
CorvoBody writes a small log, Binaries\Win32\CorvoBody.log. When the Mod Loader is picked up it contains
a line like "chain-load ...\dinput8_modloader.dll: loaded".
UPDATING FROM CORVOBODY 1.x
---------------------------
1. Close the game.
2. Extract this archive into your Dishonored folder as in step 3 above, replacing dinput8.dll.
If you already renamed the Mod Loader to dinput8_modloader.dll, leave it as it is.
3. Delete Binaries\Win32\CorvoBody.ini - version 2.0 no longer uses it. Everything is tuned and built
into the mod, and the F6-F11 keys are gone. (CorvoBodyCamera.bin, if you have it, can go too.)
4. If you used ChainLoad= in the old CorvoBody.ini to load other DLL mods, that setting is gone: rename
those DLLs so their names start with "dinput8_" instead.
5. For the new Body Swap menu, install Dishonored Mod Loader (see Installation steps 1-2).
Your saves carry over.
UPDATING DISHONORED MOD LOADER LATER
------------------------------------
The Mod Loader's download contains its own dinput8.dll, which would overwrite CorvoBody's. After updating it:
put the Mod Loader's new dinput8.dll in place of dinput8_modloader.dll (renamed again), and put CorvoBody's
dinput8.dll back. Easiest: extract the Mod Loader update to a temporary folder first, then copy its files
over by hand, renaming its dinput8.dll as you go.
UNINSTALLING
------------
1. Close the game.
2. Delete from Binaries\Win32:
dinput8.dll (CorvoBody's - about 2.5 MB; the Mod Loader's is about 95 KB)
Mods\plugins\BodySwap.dll
CorvoBody.log
3. If you keep the Mod Loader, rename dinput8_modloader.dll back to dinput8.dll.
The game's own files are never modified. Your saves stay loadable without the mod: Daud's powers and items
are never written into a save as game objects, and the game simply skips the extra power entries.
To be extra safe, switch every Body Swap row back to Corvo before your last save.
COMPATIBILITY - MODS THAT MAY CLASH
-----------------------------------
Works together:
- Dishonored Mod Loader 1.3.13 - required for Body Swap; tested. Other mods that run through the Mod
Loader's MODS menu (such as Cheat Menu) load through it as normal.
- Other mods that install a dinput8.dll of their own: only one file can be called dinput8.dll, so rename
theirs to dinput8_<anything>.dll and CorvoBody loads it. Remember to rename again whenever you update
that mod.
- Texture, sound and other content mods that don't touch the files listed below.
- Saves from CorvoBody 1.x or from the unmodded game.
May clash:
- Better Powers (Blink / Bend Time / Possession) and other mods that change the player's powers: not
tested together with Body Swap's Daud power set. If you use them, keep Body Swap's Powers row on Corvo.
- Mods that replace or edit these DLC packages, which CorvoBody borrows models and icons from:
L_DLC07_Endgame_Script, L_DLC07_BaseIntro_Script, DLC07_Twk_Player_Daud_SF, and the DLC06 / DLC07 UI
icon packages. Your body, the Daud and Overseer pieces or the power icons can go missing.
- Mods that replace the first-person arms, sword or crossbow models: with Body Swap on Corvo you see their
versions; Daud or Overseer replaces them while selected.
- Mods that move the first-person camera (head bob, camera position): CorvoBody steadies the camera and the
two may fight. Changing the field of view should be fine.
- Any other mod that shows the player's body in first person.
TROUBLESHOOTING
---------------
- No body appears: check that you have The Brigmore Witches, and look in CorvoBody.log. If it says
"unexpected image base" or "prologue mismatch", your Dishonored.exe is a different version from the one
this mod supports; the mod switches itself off safely in that case.
- No MODS button / no Body Swap: the Mod Loader's dinput8.dll must be renamed to dinput8_modloader.dll
(Installation step 2), and BodySwap.dll must be in Binaries\Win32\Mods\plugins.
- Body Swap says "CorvoBody not found": CorvoBody's dinput8.dll isn't installed - probably the Mod Loader's
dinput8.dll took its place. Redo Installation steps 2-3.
- Crashes: please send CorvoBody.log plus the newest UE3AutoReportDump*.txt and *.dmp from
Documents\My Games\Dishonored\DishonoredGame\Logs with your bug report.
